The MESIS project is a European Project of the Erasmus+ Programme. It aims to foster LGBTQIA+ inclusive communities through sport by developing specific pedagogical tools and competencies in the field of the “Education Through Sport” (ETS), methodology and SOGIESC discrimination (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression and Sexual Characteristics).
MESIS is a follow-up of the Outsport project (2017-2019) and it’s based on its pedagogical achievements collected in the Outsport Training Toolkit, which was the outcome of a mutual learning process based on the first European research on LGBTI people experience in sport.
This project has a consortium of 5 organisations and 4 associated partners from 5 different countries (Italy, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Portugal, and Slovenia), aiming to promote inclusive sport communities for LGBTI people by developing new pedagogical tools and skills within the “Education Through Sport” (ETS) methodology.
The project will generate practical and e-learning tools for organisations and youth operators involved in sport and will develop local strategic partnerships in the field of LGBTI and ETS. After a preliminary Training of Trainers meeting, the project trainers will recruit coaches and PE teachers in specific skills and transfer key competences on LGBTI issues in sport and make them able to provide ETS exercises to their audience. The results of these actions will lead to the design a open e-learning content in 7 different languages, for coaches, teachers and educators who work directly in the field. The project foresees 8 dissemination events and will reach approximatelyto 300 people. The partnership aims to create an EU model with implementation of a Vademecum policy at local level in the fields of sport and education.
