JITA KYOEI 2 PROJECT

The JITA KYOEI 2 project is a European Project of the Erasmus+ Programme. This project has a consortium of 8 organisations from 7 different countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Portugal, Romania, Spain, France and Austria), aiming to promote integrity, values and education through sport. By promoting greater awareness, education and support for sports clubs, coaches and young athletes, we are contributing to the personal and professional development of both.

In the words of Jigoro Kano, Jita Kyoei aims to foster harmony and cooperation among everyone in society. In a world that is increasingly global and multicultural, mutual respect and acceptance of differences is very important. Sport and judo, in particular, are excellent tools for achieving this goal. Judo can promote values such as, respect, discipline and perseverance, but it can also shape character, develop social skills and solve problems related to focus and physical fitness. This project, has the partnership of clubs, organizations and sports federations, and each partner will be assigned a role and will take responsibility for the delivery on different task.

The Jita Kyoei principle is intrinsically linked to the education and values that Judo promotes in its athletes. The aim is to promote the personal and character development of its athletes, so that in the future they can have a positive impact on others and on society. The principle behind the Jita Kyoei project is universal, it applies to all cultures, religions, ethnicities and all living beings, and its meaning is ‘working together to make progress together’. The activities and phases of the project are already planned and ready to go. The first stage involves developing the Jita Kyoei Judo Educational Methodology; then providing this Jita Kyoei Educational Methodology to Judo coaches; and finally developing a Quality Label for clubs that use this methodology.
